Historical overview

„Chemia – Łódź” Spółka Akcyjna is a company with over a hundred years of tradition. Company names, legal personality and address have changed. The type of activity is unchanged – wholesale and retail trade in chemical products.

The history of the company begins with Kazimierz Monitz’s comany – „Chemical”. The company, existing from 1902, until 1939, was the largest trading company supplying the Łódź textile industry with chemical products. During the war Leopold Schmidt managed the company.
In 1945, as a result of the transformation with the simultaneous liquidation of the legal personality of the companies:
• the former company Kazimierz Monitz „Chemical processing” at ul. Wigury 30 and at ul. Fabryczna 12
• the former company Berndt i Stöckel at ul. Wodna 12
• the former company Jakub Petters at ul. Roosevelt 1/3

The Commercial Center of Chemical Processes in Łódź was established.
The first retail store was opened at 10 Jaracza Street in 1945. Later it was moved to the premises at 16 Jaracza Street (a dye shop that no longer exists).
